cheap exhaust loudening mods

Alright i gotta a vr v6 commy with a 2.5" lukey system with a straight through muffler. im after more sound BUT CHEAP. i was lookin at getting a system with two hotdogs and the centre one flanged so im able to take it out, but this is gonna set me back about 300. My car is low and my centre mufflers sagging about 3" off the ground( gotta love off the shelf systems). I was lookin at droppin out my centre muffler and moving it to the rear, but its too wide so you reckon i should go after a skinnier muffler?

if you want it louder, just have it straight through after the cat nothing els there to stop the sound

I did that with my VN, Made the whole system at school with 2.25" pipes. All went togeather really well and sat under the car nicely, I even got comments from people about how "Unique" my VN sounded. I liked it till I got a Defect and $141 fine.

if u want a cheap way to get a loud exhaust, then go get a drill and drill out a few holes, it will sound as though u have spent the big bucks on a wicked exhaust lol

take the exhaust off at the cat. plenty of noise AND a weight reduction to boot

exhaust cut out valve ???? loud as but not quite legal for street use ... increase your after diff pipe size to 3 inch and see how that drones for you

I was at the lights fiddling with the head deck and the light went green and the car beheind beeped so i flored it up the road and the highway patrol was on the other side of the intersection and heard the mighty drone of the VN and booked me for the exhaust after checking the whole car.

My exhaust now has the middle mufler cut out and the stock back one in place, sounds not to bad but not great.

the problem is your in a v6 and no exhaust mod will fix that

As others have said, unbolt the cat. It will sound mean. And you dont need cats. Honest. I dont have one on my VR.

i was running a diflipo 3 inch mandrel bent system on my n/a vl wagon 3.0lt never got a defect notice for that one , unlike my VH 3.3 s/c with a 3 inch s/steel mandrel bent system it would idle at 86 db

Cats not required in NZ. I was joking about just unbolting it though. I think "cheap exhaust loudening mods" are pretty stupid. I am running a 2.5" with no cat, decent muffler and rear resi on my VR v6 and it is quiter than my old rusted out factory system, and IMO sounds heaps better. Still louder than my VS though.

No worries mate. My orig post was takin the piss anyway. IMO altering your exhaust just to make it louder is as stupid as cutting spring. This guy already has a 2.5" catback, so why bother trying to make it louder?

maybe he should just turn down the duff duff music so he can hear his exhaust note ..... best mod i fink anyway and cost f@#* all to do
