    Default Auto Transmission

Well, when I got my car it was kinda rough with changing gears and laggy as to go into drive and reverse.
I gave it a service last weekend.
The reverse isnt too bad anymore, just the drive, it takes a few seconds to actually drop into the gear.
Would it be the internal gears itself and i'd need a reco'd box or is there something I can do to get it to change better?
Any help is appreciated as this is really annoying me and makes the car feel like crap..

you could get a shift kit put in to try firm it up

I'd put a can of Lucas treatment in it.....it should make the clutches grip better till the box eventually fails (sounds worn). My opinion only but a shift kit may put extra pressure on the clutches etc and possibly accelerate it's death - most transmission shops will not guarantee the trans once a shift kit is installed.

That stuff is at SuperCheap etc...there may be better treatments and they increase and modify the viscosity of the trans oil so the clutches grip better when they are worn. Give you a bit of breathing space.
Have a look at this site below as it has good info on your trans.

Well, I put some of that stuff in.
    Recently changed the oil beforehand.
Not a change really. It's still rough as guts.
Might just have a small difference.

Sounds a bit like mine, mine takes a few seconds to go in drive or reverse, but is ok going through gears.
Perhaps I need a new trans or just a service?

It doesnt slip or anything, just takes a while to get into drive or reverse and is really rough changing into the second gear.

Ok, the lag in my transmission is getting worse. Took a lot longer to get from reverse to drive. I need to find out whats wrong soon!

I had an XF Falcon that lost reverse (totally)....had no $$$$ so made sure I parked where I did not have to reverse. Got an extra year from the car that way.
