Hey Guys,
I've been getting a petrol smell when the A/C is on and the car is parked up waiting for the family,
Happens when I circulate the air from inside the car and a bit from when you have the external vent open.
Now I checked around the engine bay and had a sniff with no fumes present with car in same situation, there no fuel on my carpets because it disappears straight away once the A/C is turned off.
Any help would be much appreaciated
Does the engine run roughly, like does it splutter and cough at all?
Runs smooth as,
I'll have to check a manual and see if the A/C interacts with any other lines
Got this off the VR/VS section
"this happens with most post 2000 cars, what happens is, because its so hot, your petrol tank heats up and the petrol expands and pressure builds up, so u lost a bit of fuel in the engine bay cos the pressure is pushing out small amounts of fuel, ul notice this after about 10mins driving in 30degrees+ weather by pulling over and opening ur petrol cap and ul heap a *PERRRSSSSCHHHHHHHH....* and the buildup will exit and you'll get a really strong smell of petrol. Hope that helps anyone also confused about that."
Makes sense, thought this problem would of been fixed in a VX
