    Default Installing Remote Locking Help

I dont have factory remote locking in my VR ute so i tryed to installed the setup out of the VS sedan i have into the drivers side door of the VR... So i basically changed over the door latch to the one with central locking and added the wiring harness from the plug that was under the dash to the solenoid on the central locking.... But i tested it out and its not working ????

The remote is the standard 1 button VR remote is this the issue or is there somthing i have done wrong ? The wiring and door latch were working in the VS and the fuse is still fine.

Well there is a fuse for it in the fuse box under the dash.

I suppose this is also a stupid question but can i use the BCM out of the VS sedan in the VR in that case ?

Maybe your ute has a higher BCM fitted - check the series (probably on the box). Re using the VS BCM, maybe if you have remote but your ute will need the keyreader bit as well I'd guess - others have fitted central locking to utes so do a search on this.
I'm really not the right person to advise you on this - reason I posted about the BCM is that I researched fitting CC to my sedan and I remembered seeing the BCM characteristics for the ute plus also have seen other posts on your problem.
Anyway do a search, I'm sure you will find something to help you.

Edit - found this for you....last post confirms what I said above that you need the BCM and remote.

Question about immobilser/central locking in VS Series I Ute

Ok thatks for that buddy, but if mine does have a higher BCM then i cant see why its still not working, but if it dosent have the correct BCM (which again dosent explain the fuse for it) then is it a simple pull it out of the VS and plug strait in or will it conflict with things ?

I suppose on that note what exactly is the job of the BCM

Check the pix re what the BCM does...basically it's all the gizmos on the body...the ECU looks after all the gizmos on the engine.
The reason you have a fuse for central locking may mean that fuse is also used for something else.
Do you hear anything from the Vs BCM (plugged into VR) when you press the unlock button?....should hear a click or hiss sound

I havent pluged the VS BCM into the VR because im unaware of what might happen. If i plug it in and its wrong for the wiring harness im concerned it might blow fuses, relays etc... If someone who is certain its not going to cause any problems to try then i would like to know.
