Default How are your power steering hoses?

About 4 years ago I replaced both upper hoses from the PS reservoir due to the higher one (return line) going soft and swelling and the lower one (feed to ps pump) going hard and brittle. I again replaced both hoses about 12 months ago for exactly the same reasons - both times using genuine parts from Holden. The quality of the hoses is pretty poor in my opinion.
My question is simply am I the only person with this problem.

I too haven't had to change mine in the time I've owned the car (getting close to 4 years) and my engine bay gets quite hot with the new engine.

I had a VS for 5 years and never had to replace them.

muzza, auto trans fluid and power steering fluid are the same thing.

Mine didn't fail.....one was badly swollen and the other was hard. I could have left them on but thought it wise to replace them before the soft one burst or closed internally or the hard one sheared the hard plastic nipple off the reservoir. This is the 3rd time on 3 lots of factory hoses.
Did anyone actually check the hoses - like squeeze them?

If your unhappy with the GMH hoses, do what I did and go get some from a specialist hydraulic place, we use them on our cane harvester and they last for years under way more pressure than theyll ever be under in ur car

Maybe the previous owner (6 years ago) put mineral oil in or something that's caused this "problem"....although each time I've changed them I've put new Dexron111 in......mystery.
