hey guys i have 42 psi in my 225/45/17 "s usually i only have 35 psi, but i watched an episode of top gear the other day and they showed what happens to low profile tyres which are under inflated ,it was scary.so anyway my tyres say they have a max psi of 50 , and as im going on a big trip saturday i thought a couple more psi wouldnt hurt ,i gotta say the car feels better with 42 psi as opposed to 35 ,what psi do u guys run ? cheers muz
Depends on the tyre...
I run 36psi... but mine says max 42 i think so yeah... if it says max 50, 42 should be fine..
aZk.
should improve economy a little as it reduces rolling resistance. Some tyres react badly to high pressures though, ride goes to shiz. I put no less than 40 psi in any of my wheels (one with 19s, one with 17's). I do it to keep them safe
Hit me up with some reputation points if i've helped you out! (Star in the bottom left!) Cheers!

it comes down to how the tyre is wearing. if it is wearing the outsides of the tyre it needs a few more psi and if its wearing the middle your tyres they need a bit less psi. most commodores will wear the outside of the front tyres and the middle of the back tyres. so if u have 42psi in the front mite pay to have a few less psi in the back tyres! i had a vn v8 with 18" tyres and ran 46psi front and 38psi rear.
42 will be fine on a long haul... just remember that once the tyres are warm they will be up around 46psi..not a problem, just saying...
