The fuel gauge on my VS wagon has become intermittent. It could be the sensor or the wiring, it is not a sticky needle.
The car needs to pass roadworthy for rego and i'm worried about failing on the fuel gauge - when you turn the motor on, the low fuel alarm beeps - its hard to ignore.
I want to rewire the sensor so that the guage always says full. I believe i only need to earth one wire. But i'm not sure about where the appropriate wire is.
There are wires that run along the wagon floor, that look like they come out of the top of the fuel tank. Or perhaps i could intercept the wire as it goes into the back of the computer.
I have both the Ellery and Haines manuals, and they are both useless for wiring information. They are both useless in general.
Is there anyone or any online resource that might tell me what color wire goes from the fuel tank sensor into the computer?
At the very least i'd like to test the sensor wire with a multimeter to better diagnose the problem.
It should be a light brown wire going from the tank to the gauge.
