i have a VR statesman and want to put a VS BCM in.. i have a S1 VS ecu from statesman and BCM from a VS statesman S1 but when i turn over the engine cranks over and doesnt start.. am i missing something??? is something majorly different in the wiring??? please help is there a certain number BCM i need???? do they need to be linked up via the tech scanner??
Are you using the same key from the car the BCM came from? The key has to match the BCM before it will let the car start.(immobiliser).If not, just swap the black plastic part of the key from the car the BCM came from, with your black plastic bit on your key. This lets the BCM tell the ECU the key matches the BCM,which turns off the immobiliser.
Why did you want to put a VS BCM and ECU in anyway? Is your car an 8 or a 6?
there car is an 8 and ive used the correct key fob for the correct bcm if i didnt it wouldnt turn over. vs bcm is only for the two button key fob (i bought hsvs ones they make me look cooler infront of my freinds HAHAHA).... sounds wankey and alot of trouble yes but its what im after.. just hoping someone could point in a direction thats going wrong.. now ive gotten more information on it.. there was two types of bcms that im aware of 149/7 cant remember numbers exactly and 349 VR type was 349 and ive now gotten a 349 from a s1 VS fingers crossed this helps i will update for those interested
I'm not sure about VS, but on later models if you change the BCM it needs to be linked to the ECU with a Tech 2 or it will not start. This is for security reasons.
MY RIDE
I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
You need the VS BCM and ECU for this to work. You will also find the windows will have probs. I had to do it. I needed to bypass the electric window wires to the BCM to get my windows to correctly operate, you loose the Auto down feature. It's the only prob I had.
