Dodgy cigarette lighter

I put a 2nd hand cigarette lighter in the wago, and it works fine lighting the cigarette lighter attatchment, but refuses to power up my ipod. the ipod car kit works fine in my other car so I know it must be the cigarette lighter.

Would crappy wiring cause this (too thin) or have I just got a weird lighter.

You will find that the fag lighter makes contact with the outside of a cup shaped connector when pushed in whilst the ipod adaptor makes contact with the centre bit of this same cup shaped connector. If you look closely you will probably find the centre is rusted/dirty preventing the ipod attachment from making good contact. Try and clean this centre part with a pointy knife or similar to scrape the rust etc off it.

Make sure you clean it with power off!....although I think it's on the ACC/IGN circuit.

^^ This worked. I just have a looser lighter socket so it cuts out when it moves slightly so I might get a new one anyway. Cheers!

Yep, I had the same problem just scraped the sh*t off with a screwdriver lol
