Default Modifications = ECU problems.... Help?

Iv recently got modifications for my VS SS commy.

Worked heads ( bigger valves, ported, milled )
    dual race springs
    comp pushrods
    twin exhaust
    headers
    street/strip cam ( rev range 3500-6400 )

I got a good deal and got these mods without proper research into ECU's. Turns out the stock computer cant be 'retuned' and someone in the tuning industry said that my cam is too wild for the aftermarket chips made for similar modifications.

Iv been told i need an adjustable ( retunable ) computer, does anyone know where i can get them for a good price, does anyone have one they want to sell or does anyone have any other ideas or advice?

    Cheers, Matt

ROTFL - your Delco ECU is one of the most tunable "factory" type ecu's out there! Question though - are you running the stock intake manifold and injectors? Have you bumped up your compression ratio or is it the stock 8.5:1???

If you ever come back to the forum to check your post, find me on ebay, I'll sort it out for you. It doesn't sound very difficult

Are you sure? the local EFI tuner says it cant be re-tuned and that i have gotta find an re-tunable comouter and then go back to him. Standard intake system except cold air intake and im going to hone the intake manifold and port match it although i really should do something to make it breathe better. Iv taken 20 thou off heads but will check valve to piston clearence before milling another 20 thou off, no idea what the ratio is ir will be though id say over 9:1

It's pretty common knowledge around here that the delco ecu's are awesome, Do what greeenfoam said, find him on ebay, user 'nicefrog' and go from there. Your local EFI tuner either lacks serious knowledge, or is just trying to sell you a aftermarket ECU, as that's where the money is for him.

100% positive. I'd be looking for a new tuner - he has no idea what he is doing with GM based EFI systems if he makes that claim.

Cam is huge, the outter extremes of street use really it was intended for a jet boat but iv got it now, power range between 3500-6400 revs

Then you might consider another manifold and will probably need more compression to make it work in addition to tuning your ecu.
