does anyone know of anyone in the melbourne area who reslots rotors?
I have vs hsv calipers with the 328mm rda slotted rotors and i had some reasonably hard pads in them, which has prematurely worn the rotors (1500kms) to the point that the slots have started to disappear. they are machinable but this will take the slots out and make them into quiet expensive non slotted rotors.. so yeh anyone who knows anyone i would be much appreciative.
Chances are the rotors will be undersize if the slots have disappeared and thus should be relegated to the scrap metal man.
Reaper
no they aren't undersized, the slots were quiet shallow to begin with.
the rotors have been machined and the slots are just visible but not enough to for-fill the purpose of the slots in the rotor
Do you really need them slotted???, how much racing do you do?. If the answer is zero then dont worry about them.
i dont do racing, but i do do a fair amount of heavy braking, and the slots are there for a purpose and id like them to keep it. and as i said not slotting them makes them F*@kn expensive standard rotors...
26.5ish scrap on these rotors are 25
well there only just machinable anything with a mill left over will get quoted for new rotors in any workshop
Float like an elephant sting like a tree clubsport hits what doug does'nt see
they have been machined already
and i am a mechanic so i am the workshop
Even if you did get the slots deeper, they should still not be deeper than the minimum thickness.
yeh really it doesnt worry me if the slots go below the minimum thickness, because i keep frequent taps on all my service parts and the minimum thickness is just there to prevent calipers spitting out pads when both pads and rotors are worn so the slots being lower than minimum mark isnt tht much of a concern.
Which means each slot would be 0.75mm...
What a complete waste of time. Slotting doesn't have that big of an effect on a road car, where the first weaknesses will always be fluid and pads in that order...
yeh really it doesnt worry me if the slots go below the minimum thicknessyes, but your insurance company does... and as true as it may be, they're not going to buy your 'minimum thickness is only to stop backing plates being spat out caper'
When the ADR's say any part of the rotor, they're not macking provisions for tarts who are too cheap to buy new heat sinks that rely on volumetric mass to work properly...

Sick of paying too much for high performance brake pads? Want high performance and cold bite with low rotor wear?

Can I ask which workshop you work for?
So we can advise our members to never ever go there!
ADR regulations are there for a reason, they are there to make your car safe on the roads. If you're planning on breaking these laws, stay off the roads where you can hurt someone with your stupid.
Secondly, the forum swear filter is in place for a reason. Please don't try to bypass it as it's still an infractable offence.
Finally, I agree with gsl.
