    Default Don't buy NGK sparkplugs

hey guys just wanted to put a warning out there. bought some ngk spark plugs the other day just doing the change over. at first all was sweet after a little while the engine started misfiring and got progressively worse. taking the sparks out, gapping them and checking all make a spark couldnt pin the problem. bought a new set same problem but felt a bit different (did it at different times as the other ones). thought i damaged the leads so replaced leads to no array. bought some DENSO plugs works without fail. read on the net and i'm not the only one with thi problem on the vr/vs. so when buying plugs either spend the extra money or get the gm holden ones whatever you do dont get NGK.

Next time someone asks if they should use these plugs i'll tell them that i heard that a guy on the internet told me that they were bad

probably forgot to put the lead back on the plugs and wondered why it was misfiring.

Haha, like everyone has said, Used NGK when I changed mine. Fine.
Just gotta make sure you put the leads on right and the spark plug is done up correctly.

I use NGK and wouldn't change off of them. I've had the Bosch plugs stuff me around but never a NGK plug. You must of just been unlucky.

IMO there's no need to use anti-seize in street cars. If you're replacing them every couple of years and not doing them up too tight you'll be fine.

Have used NGK plugs without dramas for over twenty five years, have had issues with champions but not the genuine made in the USA ones, BOSCH no issues but know fellow professionals who have. I AM a fan of DENSO plugs and they would be my top pick.

    1- Denso
    2- NGK
    3- Bosch

currently running NGK's in 34G without any prob's and everytime i get in it i give it arseholes with just under 10:1 comp, headwork and a real fat delcowizzid tune, they come out after every meeting for a 'read' and go back in and i havent cracked a porcelain in years - probably will now though

WANTED SV3800 headers for 34G, need stockers as made by HM headers ~ used with patina prefferable for scrutineering

mate I had bosch in my VS, and completely useless, backfiring everything on LPG.

As soon as i put NGK in there, she was sweet until I sold it ran perfectly... Same story with my VY. Was running on 5 cylinders on Holden plugs, and now I got NGKs in there and it is running perfectly... 15,000km on this set so far.

Would use NGK every time and will continue using NGK everytime

I went and bought NGK plugs last night just because of this thread. Car runs like a dream and feels new again. The old ones were definately past the use-by-date.

Damn, auto barn told me i was the only one in the stores history with this problem. I serviced a mates vs commodore and put in NGK plugs and had the exact same problem, we tested all of them and found it was 1 plug out of the 6 that was messing up the engine. Visualy all was ok no cracks, gaps where right but 1 plug was just a piece of shit. Im never buying NGK again, Champion seem to go well.

Did autobarn replace the item for you?

so you got a bad plug.. it happens with everything in life. Autobarn even said that in the stores history, they've had one fail, i'd say that says enough about them.

I've had em in my car for years, Dads run them in his mildy worked XW never failed. im a happy NKG user
