VS Executive Commodore A/C and blower fan cuts out

Hey everyone. i am having a problem with a VS Executive. Intermittently the A/C and blower fan will cut out. Only recently purchased vehicle and noticed rear demister button was missing. Replaced Rear demister button and when pressed A/C and blower fan completely cuts out. Has anyone experienced this problem and if so how did you fix problem?? Sounds like a short to me. I replaced the resistor under plenum chamber and also the fan switch assembly. Regards Greg

All I can think of is to have a look at all the wiring under the dash and bonnet.Look for any signs that someone has changed or rewired the looms in any way.If you do find something,maybe it was a bodgey job,look into it further.If theres nothing there and its all original harness,then its got me stuffed what would cause that.Please let us know what you find out.cheers

ive had the exact same problem and it was fixed by swapping around a couple of relays under the bonnet and giving the contacts a clean at the same time, from memory it was the 2 smaller ones on the left side in the relay box, i think one of them might be ignition.

If it's happening when you press the A/C nbutton, it must be a bad A/C switch or the connections at the back of the switch. It's easy to pull them out and I think there is a how-to. Make sure you disconnect the battery first!.
