    Question VS Heater

I have recently purchased a Series III VS Ute and would like to know is it normal for the Heater lines (situated under the dash near the drivers left leg) to be constantly hot? I mean burning to touch hot? Is there a valve somewhere that should be shut if the heaters are not required?

no. it,s not supposed to be hot if you dial cold.open the bonnet, where all pipes join on left, that is the tap. first check if tubing is connected to the tap. that is vacuum line, if it is check by putting a finger over tubing, you should feel it sucking. if it appears to be ok the tap itself could be stuffed. i just replaced one from wreckers for $15. try these first.

if its not sucking also have a look under the where the pipes are. theres a metal rod coming from the back of the temperature dial connected too a hookish white plastic lever , when its on full cold it should be pressing a button in all the way... mine wasnt doing this which caused the same problem you are having.
i fixed it by jamming cardboard inbetween the lever and the button making it press all the way in ( temporary fix till i can ajust the hook thing without breaking it).

Uh pillzor? Not sure if its the same on the VS as the VR, but on mine, one side of that white plastic "hook" has a catch like a suitcase, and if you flip it down you can adjust where the white plastic thing holds the thread on the metal rod.

If you're talking about the Heater Tap here then do NOT get one from a wreckers. They're only $30 brand new and they should be replaced with a new one always.

I had one of these break / snap in half while just undoing the ring clamp around the top hose facing the front of the car.

    Evil Evil little part.
