!!Is my steering rack stuffed?!!

hey guys
when my vr v6 is turned off and i grab the wheel and turn it fast it makes a little cliking noise. when i turn the wheel say half way around and return it fast it goes clik clik clik everytime it gets to a certain point. also could this be the reason why i have a knock in my front end when i turn?

Is the clicking noise coming from near the steering wheel or from the engine side?

mine when i have the car off, i wobble wheel, it goes CLUNK CLUNK pretty loud and there a probablllly 2cm gap at the wheel, dunno about the shaft
is it rooted?

Normal in a 13 year old Commodore.
