i have a vr sII auto had computer read and said low voltage tps bought a new 1 and went good took batery terminal off and went back to same old way. 100 kmh slowing down to 80k the auto unlocks itself from the engine and the rpm fluctuates between 1400 rpm and 1700 rpm there abouts and when accelerating it chases 4th and sort of preselects it and then u put the boot in a little more and then the torque converter locks up and then u back off a bit then it does it all again. really annoying going down a hill on cruise control coz the speed creeps up. if the auto stayed engaged the compression of the motor would keep the speed ok. any ideas???cheers
Checking error codes VR/VS (Revised) Try checking for error codes yourself. It will display code 12 three times, and then any errors (if any)that are logged. Disconnecting the battery should clear any errors. About 10 mins should do it.If you get the TPS voltage error showing up again,Id be checking the wiring from the TPS back through to the ECU for a bad connection etc.Especially at the wiring harness/loom connectors.Unplug, then plug them in again a few times just to make sure theres a good connection.

yeah checked the codes and 12 all good but when a tech 1 or similar was plugged in it said low voltage, paper clip only does things that are completely buggered. and i had 86 or 87 and the gregorys manual had nothing about it and tech 1 said tranny slipping. cheers buddy ill check the plugs and stuff but when i unplug it and drive the auto short shifts and engine light comes on so i think the wiring is ok but never hurts to be sure
When going downhill with cruise on, just slip it back to 3rd for engine braking because if your are in Drive and CC off you still will not get engine braking ---- the behaviour of your auto is exactly the same as mine and I've always considered it 'normal'. The owners handbook says that the car can overspeed downhill in CC mode so it's basically "OK"
I always slip it into 3rd down hill

i have put the ignition on and slowly pressed the accelerator to the floor and held for a couple of secs and slowly released and repeated this 10 times and then started the car and waited for a min or so and then test drove and all ok it seems there must be another way to reset the computer for it to recognise the fault has been fixed. cheers for the info people
I think if you hold the throttle down for 5 secs above 3000rpm it resets, did this in the VR and it went Beep beep beep. assuming i reset the ecu defaults. or just disconnect the battery
ill give it a go =)
didint work for me sort of coming good just hold the pedal to the floor before i start it and seems to be good just going to do that and hopefully it will work it out and no error codes are coming up
all fixed auto died went manual not looking back
