Vr berlina Odometer Jumped to 500,000k's! Help!

hey guys,

i was driving to work when my dash beeped, just like the low fuel warning light. all the readings on the digital displays all went crazy for a couple of seconds then it stopped. all my triptometer weas reset and fuel usage. then when i pressed mode to go to the next view, the odometer jumped from 197600 to 555600!

what should i do? can it be fixed, should i buy a second hand one? please help as i need to sell her soon!

merry xmas. a mechanic will obviously help, but otherwise a second hand one will do the trick, just hard to find one with matching k's. i dont know if it would help. but try resetting the ECU and it might set it back.

If you get an error in the ODO chip it will reset itself to 555,555kms. If you take the odo chip out of the PCB (trip computer main board) it will default to 555,555.

So I'd say your trip computer has fried itself and lost the odo reading for your car. A VDO programmer may be able to help - contact Dr Bob on this forum. He may be the bloke to help.
