Knocking/Tapping sound in my VR

Hey all, I'm new to the JC forums...... This morning my 93 VR Commodore started making a tapping/knocking sound? It's not really loud and doesn't get louder when you accelerate? I was hoping someone here might be able to give me some ideas on where to start trying to rectify this problem.

is it a constant sound or does it come on at a certain stage? does steering affect it at all?

It's constant..... steering, acceleration etc don't affect it.

it could be a leak in the extractors, i had the same problem with my vp. it could be either the gasket or the extractors itself. but its too hard to tell untill you actually see the car. probably better tacking it to someone who knows what there doing.

Thanks for your help Will take it to the mechanics tomorrow, hopefully it won't cost too much $$$$ to fix!

So anyway, I hop in the car this morning and it isn't making the noise anymore??? Any more ideas? Should I be worried?

It probably wouldn't hurt to go and get one of them free safety checks at most suspension and tyre places,just to make sure everything is safe.
