bolts straight up, same mount, or the one with the manual will work. not sure about the electrical side, but you'll have to wire up the reverse lights, and speedo possibly, and bypass the start inhibitor.

then you've got the pedal box, master cylinder change over etc.

A series 3 VS ute is what you want to find. As already stated everything will bolt straight in I've done it myself. If you have access to a pit or a hoist and a few guys to help then you can get it done in a day. In your shed it might take a couple of days or more depending on your confidence level.
If you go ahead with it then put the pedal box in before the big day, from memory it took a full afternoon to put the pedal box in. Most of the dash had to come apart to move heater pipes out of the way etc, the brake booster had to be undone as well.
Electrical side... you will either require a full manual loom and computer to rewire the engine (then you will still need to bypass the auto inhibitor switch so the thing will start, the bcm needs to think that the car is in neutral or it wont start) OR the other option would be to hack up the auto engine loom and get a memcal written for it with the auto functions switched off (this requires a fair bit of messing around as far as I'm concerned but if you cant find a loom and computer then you have little choice)
