t5 speedo sensor help

so my speedo stopped working recently and i have traced the problem back to the speedo sensor, there are 3 wires coming out of it, 2 of them are still connected (just) but the 3rd has broken off.

i have removed the sensor in an attempt to reconnect the wires back on but i cant seem to pull the top off the sensor, so my question is...

does the top of the sensor come off or once the wires break do i have to replace the whole vss?

any suggestions would help.

hey dirty sanchez mine did the same dig into the plastic seal carefully until you get just enough of the brocken wire to put a terminal onto it. should be able to do this without going right through the seal but if you do carefully seal it back up with sikaflex

ok so ive made some progress, managed to get the top off the sensor to expose some more wiring, but as you can see there is only a tiny bit left to play with.

i cant beleive they design them this way, anyway im going to attempt to solder the wires back on and see how that goes.

just go get one from the wreckers otherwise they are about $220 last time i asked at holden
