Okay, having trouble with starting my VR, it's always been a little bit of a pain to start as in you turn the key and there is a fair delay before the starter kicks in, however after a long trip camping and back it's taking up to 18 turns of the key before the starter will kick in and start the engine which starts nearly right away on the first turn over. Ive also just noticed a gurgling sound in the fuel pump, however the fuel pump is pretty new (3 months old) and the car was already a pain to start beforehand. It also runs perfectly fine once it starts (note my fuel tank is nearly full too)
I'm thinking either, dodgey fuel, immobiliser playing up, key not creating a circuit properly, fuel pump dieing already, the starter on its way out, or a loose wire to the starter.
Any ideas? It is quite troubling.![]()

Check the inhibiter switch by trying to start in N instead of P.....when key is in ignition press the unlock button.....when turning key to start push inwards to ensure good contact with key reader.....make sure battery terminal are clean and tight.
I tested it in Neutral starting and it started instantly, though it could have been a fluke so will try again tomoz. Cheers for the help Hako.
EDIT: Better ask how do i fix or change the inhibitor switch if it is the issue?
You can access the inhibiter switch by following the console removal instructions at: Stereo Install/Removal (VN - VS)
And to fix/adjust the switch look at: How To Repair Reverse Light Switch on Auto VR/VS Commodore
The reverse switch is also the inhibiter switch. Hope this helps.
