F*** my car wont start please help

hey i have a 1996 vs commodore duel fuel i dont know y but that car wont start the engine cranks but i dont think the fuel pump is working coz i cant hear it primer can anyone help me

Well its not the fuel pump, as it would have no affect on the engine when running on gas.
Start by checking for any error codes: Checking error codes VR/VS (Revised)

Have you check to see if its sparking cause on the duel fuel commodores you have to change the spark plugs more often so your plugs could be stuffed or it could be the leads as my boss used to have a vs duel fuel and he had to change the leads every 6-12 months

Did you do the error check,and did you get any codes showing up?

has it just started happening? did it work/start yesterday? has it been sitting for a while?

check your codes, could be the anti-theft signal not turning off. is the security light lit/flashing when the ignition is on and possibly when cranking also?

Mine chewed fuel heaps as well. And got to the point where it kept stalling. I couldnt start it! Even the moron mechanics couldnt fix it.

Eventually, I bought 3-4 cans of carby cleaner (about $8-10 a can). Sprayed inside the plenum, air intake, took of the EGR valve and sprayed it out. Everything was full of carbon build-up. Seriously, there was a huge patch of carbon on the ground afterwards. The car was hard to start after that (obviously some carbon had been flushed through the engine). But after about 5-6 tries, the back blew out a massive black cloud of carbon and crap.

My VT starts and runs like a new car now. I keep spraying it every 1-2 weeks with carby cleaner, and it is pretty much coming out clean now.

Also, replacing battery, plugs and leads helped also.

what do you mean it wont flick over to petrol? is the switch is stuffed? is it doin the same thing on petrol as gas?

hay everyone sorry its taking a long time to replay... ok #1 no i did not check the error codes because a friend of mine has a scane tool and he is ganna pop around next week...
#2 im not sure if the security light is on... #3 the car was woring fine then it got taken away from me by the cops for a week and when i got it back i would leave it for a couple of day then start it and i did that for about a mounththen the barrery died about a week latter i painted my dash and center consol then i put everything back together about a week latter i got a battery and i just wont start i turn the key you cant hear the petrol pump primer then i turn the key to start and the engine cranks but it doesnt fire and it is f***ing my off so bad can anyone help me

Did you take the dash apart when yo painted it? If so did you disconnect any wires? Did you re-connect everything? Or maybe you even disloged a wire.
