hey all,
i drive a manual vs, with pacemaker extractors, full lukey 2.5" exhaust.
a mate of mine noticed a fairly big puff of black smoke coming out my exhaust when i changed from 2nd into 3rd. at about 4,000rpm.
could it be my vt injectors playing up?
my car is running on standard 91 petrol at the moment (last tank ran on 98, and tank before ran on 95) all from the same bp servo. i wanna see how differently it runs.
my car also ticks when running, got told thats just the injectors as alot of ecotecs do the same.
thanks!
note: i normally drive like a grandma, and change at around 2,000rpm. may my injectors just be clogged up or something...?
It depends if the ticking is coming from the injectors or from inside the engine.my car also ticks when running, got told thats just the injectors as alot of ecotecs do the same.
yeh the ticking is just the injectors, alot of cars do that so dont worry about that.. the black smoke might be because u are running 2 rich high in the revs...it can be sorted out in the tune, it migh work but its worth givin a try, so if u think it could help giv greenfoam a pm

If the black smoke started after the exhaust was put on, I'd say the O2 sensor has been fouled or broken.
That would be my guess.
my mechanic did say that its the injectors,
would getting new ones fix it - or will they most likely tick aswell?
yeh your probably right, it could be the sensors and that..
the guy before me tried 3 different exhaust setups coz the other ones blew a bit of smoke and that.
but when i got the car no smoke what so ever with max revs in neutral. (8months ago)
The exhaust system is not going to cause the smoke, you could fit 100 different systems and it wont stop the smoke. The smoke is produced by the engine, not the exhaust pipe itself. As V said, the engine is running rich.Try checking for error codes, see if anything shows up.Checking error codes VR/VS (Revised)
