Hey all,

It's fixable but will probably cost and arm and a leg ... you could get a another one for less than what it'll cost to fix it
Very hard to tell when you cant see rails etc.
These cars are basically worth nothing now days, so it doesn't take much to write them off. It will be fixable, but the question will be if its worth it.
I would Prolly just go buy another identical car, Keep that for spare, would be cheaper and have 2 cars, one on the road and one for spares![]()
Cheers mate , iam getting the car back tomorrow (currently at tow truck depot) just gona take off the bumper and driver guard off tomorrow and see the how bad the damage is
Is it going through an Insurance company for assesment or are you making the assesment for yourself?
Insurance companies are very quick to write-off a vehice, then sell it at auction as a Repairable Write-Off.From memory a write-off is determined by a combination of: The percentage of the damage done to the vehicles body (structual also) and then repair cost versus vehicle value. I could be wrong though.
From what I can see, it looks repairable, but like mentioned earlier chances are it'll cost you more to repair it than it would to replace it.

God must love stupid people, He made so many.
Sashyre's,
Well my sis was borrowing my car, driving in adel and someone tried to do an illegal right turn and didnt put there indicator on and she hit the back of him. what makes it worse is that i forgot to renew my 3rd party insurance. And the old fella she hit doesnt have insurance either.
So yer atm.. looks like either i have to fix it or buy another? lol
Yer i'am just happy she is safe, i believe she will look after me
can be fixed mate no problems, but insurance will write it off as its not worth fixing to them, theyd rather just pay you out
looks like a write off
so long as the chassis rails arnt bent that would be a very easy fix, if you know what your doing that is. Ive done heaps of front end smashed cars with similar damage. Wont look half as bad once you have it stripped of all the damaged panels.
If your handy with a welder and a spray gun wont cost much to repair.
But if you was going through insurance it would be a wright off for sure, due to being uneconomical to repair ie the repair costs would out weigh the value of the car if it was to be repaired by an insurance approved repairer.
yer i hope the rails are not bent, i should be able check chassis and it looks pretty straight anyway, the only issue is the amount the radiator support has been pushed back, but yer as i said, will have to pull some parts off 2morrow and see the real damage lol

Thanks everyone for honest opinions, much appreciated
you will need a new front panel/ rad support panel for sure... Basically your car is only worth fixing if you can do it your self. Labor costs at a panel shop would make it uneconomical to do.
I have the same thing on my old vs como, they said it would cost around about 2500-3200 to fix. -.-"
i just bought another.
M'mmmm - there has to be a lesson there somewhere about having Comprehensive Insurance or at the very least 3rd Party Property. I'm sorry, but I have no sympathy whatsoever for anyone stupid enough and irresponsible as to drive a vehicle on a road without any insurance and then find themselves in the poo because they are foound to have been cause of collision and now have to repay say $10, $20 or even $50 thou (or more) to the other party or their insurance company.
If you can't afford the insurance then you definetly shouldn't be driving the vehicle around. Full stop !!
Benboy: He isn't soliciting any sympathy that I can see, he merely provided some pictures and asked opinions on the damage.
For all you know his sister, who was driving the car, may have a very healthy bank account and can pay the damages to the other driver up front.
He also never said he couldn't afford the insurance, he stated he forgot to renew his insurance.
I think the lesson here is to stop assuming things about other members.
hey you can buy after market radiator support panels for about $ 80 same with the guards and bonnet go to a panel shop see if a tradie can do it on the side
Benboy.
Thank you for your opinion, i am sorry if you have thought i have been irresponsible by posting this thread.. my mistake (WHICH I DO KNOW!) was not renewing the 3rd party insurance. I am not asking for sympathy just opinion's if you think its a fixable or write off(you seem to type a good reply however very off topic)..
most tradies like myself would prob do the job on the side for you, thats if you know any panel beaters/spray painters.. but its still going to cost you a fair bit.
Its really not that hard to replace a rad support panel, you just have to unpick the spot welds that hold the panel on and it will come off.
Welding on a new one is simple to, just make sure you line it up right and clamp it in position then weld away.
know any tradies in SA which might want a job on the side?? lol
nah not in SA sorry, dont know anyone over there.. im in vic.
