hey i was just wondering what is actually needed to put a vy motor into a vs commodore as i might be able to get one cheaply with low kays any help would be appreciated
any one at all as the vy most likely will be coming to my place this week sometime to start stripping
chances are it'd be like any engine converstion, except for the fact that there both ecotecs...
So in essence you'll need the engine, the transmission, wiring looms, PCM, and someone who knows what they are doing!!!
Often with swap overs things are easily overlooked and fault finding can be a pain in the arse!!!
either way good luck with it!
well a vy is still an ecotec engine same as your vs, i think it should be a straight swapover, from memory reading past posts on this forum there are a few extra sensors on the later model ones, you would have to do a search to comfirm.
The Long motor's are exactly the same. Intake manifolds and exhaust manifolds are different. Differences there are the EGR system and the intake manifold has only 1 coolant temp sensor fitted, The dash signal is supplied via the PCM in later models. Most everything else will be ok. Would use your original wiring loom and PCM from the car. Have put a VX motor into a VS ser. 3 ute with no dramas. Cams, heads and pistons are all the same so no compatibility/drivability issues will arise long as it's all bolted and clipped in properly.
