mid-high whiny noise coming from rear VR

just noticed this before and it's got me worried, sounds like it could be coming from the diff or the fuel tank?

any ideas?

Probably the fuel pump if you are below 1/4 tank.....also if tone does not change with speed it also indicates the fuel pump.

won't be tyres just got brand new ones a week or so ago. don't think it's diff bearings, I say fuel filter because it makes the sound when you turn the ignition to accessories, but only pulses for a second.

its on constantly when the cars running, i'm not sure if it's even a problem could just be me being paranoid lol.

half a tank of petrol in there, I was told the fuel pump was done in it 3 years ago.

I do not hear my fuel pump running from inside the car and this is even when the tank is almost empty, only time I heard it was when I under it checking the exhaust.

To me it sounds like the pump is working harder to give the motor fuel or is worn (noisy bearings), perhaps you should put in a new fuel filter and see what happens from there.

I am sure if mine was noisy I would replace the pump...
