Default PS fluid running out all the time

I have to fill up my powersteering fluid often.
It was once every 6 months or more. Today it's dry again and I filled it up 1 month ago.
Is there a crack in the container or is it more terrible?
Are containers easy to replace and how much for a new one?
    It's on a VS.
    Cheers

Could be a leak anywhere in the system. Have a look under the car when you park it and see if you can see any leaks.

You mention the possibility of a crack in the container so I presume that is where it appears to be leaking from. I had a leak from the container which I thought was a crack but found it to be the hose where it connects - bought 2 new hoses and this fixed my problem. The hose goes hard which prevents it sealing.

If it's leaking that much then you should easily be able to see where it's leaking from. If not, then either degrease the whole lot or at least give everything a good wipe over with a rag, go for a drive, then take your time and check the reservoir, hoses, hose clamps and the steering rack for signs of red fluid. Given that amount of fluid loss, I would say that you would see it on the ground underneath the car where you park.
'Ah well, I suppose it had to come to this.'

According to my numerous calculations, it appears to me that you have a leak.
Sorry, had to say it :P

Thanks for all of your input.

I looked for leaks and only found an oil leak from underneath.

I took it to the mechanic and the whole thing needed to be overhauled which was pretty expensive, but now it's fixed.

    Cheers
