Hey guys,
Been thinking about doing the door trim lighting like caprice's etc.. have for quite a while and the trims are coming off soon for my speakers so I thought I should try get some info on it.
From what I can gather the caprice the light turns off when the doors are shut but im guessing I wouldn't be able to wire it up like that in an executive?
So instead I was going to go to the interior lighting circuit so it turns off after 30 secs etc..
You guys reckon this would work?![]()
hey how'd that work out for ya? i'd be interested to see how it looks/how you did it.
Hey mate, been a bit busy haven't got around to it yet but I had a few diagrams drawn up somewhere if you wanted them?
Where are the door trim lights on these? I assume they'd be down the lower part of the trim and towards the back? I've just finished putting some footwell courtesy lights in the VY, they are leds and are called 'step lights', I reckon something like these would work well for the door trim also, if original ones are hard to come by like they are in this town.
The latest model Commodore at the wreckers here is VT.
'Ah well, I suppose it had to come to this.'
nathan: yeah caprice parts would work mate.
I can't find the diagrams but basically you just run the wires up into your roof lining where the dome interior light is, splice into the wires there and it should work fine.
Would be much easier splicing into them before they go into the A-pillar and into the roof, saves running extra wire up into the roof. The orange wire turns into a plug just behind the fusepanel under steering wheel, can be accessed from above the pedals if i remember correctly.
