Got my extractors installed today and now when i drive, under heavy acceleration the car stutters. feels like the car is missing but ive checked the plugs and it seems all fine. obviously it was something that happened when the extractors were installed but does anyone know what?
only thing i can think of is that it is a problem when the connected the O2 sensors?
im going to take it back to the place monday but would like some info into what may be causing the problem.
I'd lean more towards ignition - all the plug leags would have been disconnected when the extractors were installed and maybe one or two were not pushed back fully onto the sparkplugs when they were finished....this is despite you checking the plugs - the fault may lie in the actual lead.
Yeah i would go with what hako said just change the leads and see how you go
What Hako said or it could be in serious need for a tune, but yeah check the ignition leads
i was kinda hoping it wasnt the leads, i might bring it back to them and get them to replace it. save myself the money of buying new leads
With most leads these days,if you pull the lead too hard, or the wrong way,it breaks the core inside the lead and then its buggered,Ive seen people ruin brand new leads like this.It doesn't take much to break em.Also the ECU constantly tunes the engine as it runs,so it wont be "out of tune".The timing etc is set and controlled by the ECU.It cant be adjusted.
yeah well first thing i thought was it was out of tune and since its a self learning ecu i disconnected the battery but still no go.
they are open tommorow so i will call them then. they were really nice ppl to deal with so hopefully there will be no dramas with this.
probs about time for a new set of leads anyway![]()
I'd chuck a new set of plugs in (costs under $20 anyway) as chances are the ceramic on one or more of the plugs was cracked when they installed the extractors. If they didn't remove the plugs then it's very easy to damage the plugs by hitting them during the installation.
