my vr has a broken boot lock. it turns fine, but theres no traction and it doesnt grip anything to pull the lever that releases the door latch. the drivers side boot release works fine, but its annoying having to go around the drivers door to unlock boot, especially with shopping.. is there an easy fix for this?
here's a pic of what it looks like, can anybody provide a pic of how it should look in case its worth buying a replacement part (i assume the white plastic grip has been partly broken off, and it should wrap around to the '4' part to grip the lock turning)
or even fashion a bit of plastic to grab it and glue that on
normal operation in turning the lock has West turn counter-clockwise down to South, i.e the 4 turns 90 degrees CCW. ordinarily this should grip something and pull the lever (Thats attached to the white plastic) left, releasing the door, but its not gripping at all
Looks like the tang has broken off - don't know if you can buy them. Here are pix of mine;
ah i see, thanks mate.
is there a way to remove the lock, re-attach another bit of the plastic (say, from another wrecked commodore) and re-attach? or just remove the faceplate, i assume that metal clip (you can see the thin prongs) allows you to do that or something similar
Couldn't tell you - but at a guess I'd say it was possible.....although prob cheaper to get one from a wrecker and swap the plastic bit than buy from Holden. You could fabricate something.
see the brown metal thing at the back it's just a clip that sits infront of the lugs to stop it moving forward, just get a flat screwdriver or something to flick it up.
What is the brown metal thing at the back called ??? Mines missing and my boot lck keeps falling out lol
lock retaining clip???
If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?
