G'day
Currently helping out a mate try to get his ute running. Whats happened is he put the battery on back to front.
We have fitted a second hand alternator due to smoke coming out of it after this happened. We've charged up the battery and it cranks but will not start. We have fuel pressure and injector pulse (checked with noid light), but NO spark. I've checked for codes in the ECU and comes up 12. Tryed leaving the key on for 45 mins and cranking but still a no start. When cranking battery voltage drops to 10.63V but cranks over fine.
What would most likely be fried by the battery getting connected back to front. Thinking of fitting new ignition module first, is there way to check this? or i'm guessing next thing to do is fit CAS.
Does anyone have an electrical wiring diagram to try and check powers and earths etc. Have checked the engine fuses and relays all seem to be ok.
if you have no spark then replace the dfi module under the coil packs.
If it's dropping to 10.63VDC when cranking that is way too low and the ECU is probably not co-operating. Try with a fully charged battery. ECU may also be fried plus DFI module. Is it a V6 or V8?
V6 VS Ute, if ecu was having dramas would it throw up a code?
try your fuseabol links and or main fuses
Does the immobiliser light go out when you unlock the doors? (the red flashing light under the radio).
Can you hear the fuel pump prime when you turn the ignition on?
Any reading under 12.0 Vdc when cranking can prevent the car starting so the battery must be fully charged and have sufficient capacity to maintain that voltage.
If it's a manual you can always tow-start it.
