    Default engine temperature.

how much does your engine temp vary when driving???

I've noticed that when I'm travelling at a constant speed (say on a highway) it cools down heaps... like 1 bar off cold, but when I get stopped in trafffic, it can get up to halfway.

common v6 (read: 2 in every 3 cars) problem. Nothing to worry about, even going up to 3/4 on the gauge isnt going to do anything to the motor.

Yeah, the V8's dont have the problem with sitting still like the V6's do.

2nd bar is approx 80 deg c and each bar there after is approx 20 deg c. that what tech 1 told me on a coustomers vs the other day (it was a complaint) fans should come on, on the 3rd bar which is 110 deg c (109 deg c) and turn off at 90 or so, depending on car to car. my vr since doin the l3 up grade never get above half. (also i have not checked tep against l3 cluster only l2)

Sorry mate, each bar isnt 20 deg C, its scaled, not linear.

Also, when you mean "bar" are you talking about the quarter bar or the half a quarter bar? because that would be one damn hot engine by the time it hit H.

I'd agree with Vee-ard, the scale is not linear plus it's not a laboratory instrument so it is only approximate. The V8's don't heat up as quick as V6's because they have an engine driven fan (always on) whereas the V6 has an electric fan which is turned on when the engine gets hot.
