    Default VR starting problem

alright, ive put another motor in this car, it ran fine, started first go, then i found out the motor n trans had to come out again, so i lost interest and let it sit for 2months, i go to start it now and all there is, is one click from the dash, and then the light comes on like this: ( ! ) the batterie is 100% charged, terminals are tight, and it wont even turn over, ive checked the wires on the starter motor, they are on and tight, any ideas guys? cheers

Tap the solenoid on the starter motor with a hammer....not real hard but just enough to shake it as it may be a stuck solenoid. Or hotwire the solenoid to see if the starter motor sticks. The warning light you describe is for brake failure. Try pressing the unlock button on the key when it's in the ignition just before you turn to start. Triple check the battery condition and terminals....they may look OK but....

can you explain what does this do?

my vt at one stage has this problem where when i turn the key nothing seems to happen. i accidentally discovered that if i lock the door and then unlock it again and it will start up no problem. then later i further discovered that all i need to do is just to hit the unlock button as you said.

has been wondering why ever since but i've totally forgotten all about it because it hasn't heppened for a while now. don't know what have changed!

Is it a auto or manual?
If its an auto then make sure the car is in park if the car is in drive the starter wont kick over because of the inhibiter switch. Its for safety.
The inhibitor switch can be faulty as well. Try and play with the gears up and down then try to start it.
Check the starter relay and see if your getting signal to energize the relay.
Check for fault codes would be the best start mate. Pins 5/6 bridge them.
