code 82

ok ive done a bit of a search on here and the threads ive found no one has said if they fixed the problem or not? I got pulled up by the cops today (talkining on my phone) and while he was writing my ticket i was sitting there idling for about 10 mins my engine light came on and has stayed on ever since. It seems to drive ok but comes up with error code 82 (shift solinoid ) is this bad and whats the damage to my wallet gonna be?

You might try getting the transmission serviced.You can reset the ECU and clear the error by disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes.You can drive it and then see if its gonna come back again.It might be a one off thing if your lucky,sometimes they can set an error when nothing is wrong,Ive seen it happen a couple of times.

ok cleared the codes and the light still stays on and still comes up with 82? it drives perfectly fine though it clunks very slightly when put into reverse but i think its always done that.........

the solinoid is about $40 part there are 2 of them, you can change them while the pan is off and changing the oil and filter.

If not confident goto a auto trans place and have them do a service and replace both.

Code 82 - 1 - 2 Shift Control Solenoid Fault - Auto Transmission Only
You will only need to replace the one that is faulty but if you have the money replace both while it is apart.

ok might have to take it in to an trans place and get them to fix it i thought it wasnt too bad but now it sits on 3000rpm when im doing 100kph

It must be still in 3rd gear to do 3000rpm at 100kph....sounds like you may have more problems than a code 82.

just took it in to town its more like 2500 at 100kph but yeah not good thanks for steerin me in the right direction fellas i best pay me fine and then get this shit box fixed
