    Default Hints of blockage?

Well, like the title says, what signs or hints are there that the radiator has blocked?
Went for a 15 minute drive, got it to operating temp, had it turned off for an hour then went for a 5-10 minute drive, felt the radiator cap and it was cold. Then I opened it slightly to de-pressurize it and it started to warm up. Hmm whats happening here?

    sounds like thermostate cactus.

does it actually overheat?? maybe the thermostate is of a higher opening temp.
Research has shown that men usually sleep on the right side of the bed.

    Dead thermostat Mate,

Take it out (inside thermostat housing) and do it all again, if it still does it, then yep blocked Rad, otherwise Boil Kettle and fill cup with Boiling water, drop thermostat in, if it opens, it's OK.......if it stays shut It's Kaktus!!

    Good Luck :-)

Thermostats are crap these days unless you buy genuine,
3 months can be a good innings for one of the Jap made products...
Otherwise, you water pump isn't doing it's job....

Take rad out, and reverse flush it,
I normally use a acid based cleaner, fill rad with a mix of this and water for 10 mins, the reverse flush with high pressure, Like a fire hose :-)

Worked for me in the past.................................

Getting the car to run it's best and not have problem like this happening.
Just thought of this because I drained the system, expecting heaps of coolant to come out, not much did. Like 3 litres or so. So im just thinking that it might not be too good for the car.

Yeah try taking the thermostat out when you drain it, otherwise you are only draining the radiator

If you drop the bottom hose,it will drain the radiator and most of the block,to completely drain the block the knock sensors have to be removed. But the thermostat wont stop most of the block draining. Is the car overheating at all?

Not really. It just gets to quarter on the guage and rarely hits half most of the time.
