hey i have accedently drilled a hole in the top of my fueltank while trying to screw my sub firm into the boot. i went to repco and they gave me a cement type stuff to put over the hole and it worked but i have recently been told by a mate i have to get a new tank because it will just build up pressure and explode. is this true?
i really doubt that it would explode unless you glued the breather lines up as well
Before you drilled the hole did it explode?

can't see that happening. I have patched fuel tanks with that epoxy stuff you mix up in your fingers before and provided you prepare the surface ok it won't come off.
If your worried you can replace the tank they shoudl not be that much from a wrecker. Good time for a new fuel pump as well to save you the trouble when that eventually dies on you.
I have put steel need it into a couple of tanks (motorbikes included) the products are better than metal!!!!
your tank has a release pressure in the tank, THERE IS NO BUILD UP OF PRESSURE!!!!
Is the tank metal or plastic? I had a rock make a small hole in the bottom of my plastic VY tank, knead it wouldn't work on the plastic for long, so ended up putting a self tapper in and fibre glassing over the top of it. Three years later... all good.
'Ah well, I suppose it had to come to this.'
