Default 'click click' as weight shifts forwards

When i start to reverse or brake moderately i can hear a 'click click' noise from under the car. Sometimes only a single click. Any idea what this is?

I had a similar noise from the rear left hand side of my car recently. I had replace the upper trailing arms and the left hand side had not been torqued quite well enough, allowing a few millimetres of lateral movement. If you've just done the arms, check it

Or, more likely, a bush is worn somewhere. Seems to be that the vast majority of suspension noises are caused by worn bushes. See if you can narrow down where it is coming from? I proved mine was at the back by going over a speed bump slowly; no clunks when the fronts hit and dropped, 2 when the rears did.

+1 for upper rear arms. You can get them cheap off ebay if you need some.

Check control arm bushes upper and lower, sway bars and bushes, panhard rod bushes, shocks, spring seat rubbers, calipers and wheel bearings.Get under there and get 2 other people to lift the cars suspension up and down, see if anything is hitting anywhere, like the exhaust system etc. Also check the rear universal joint on the tailshaft.

I'd say Sway bar link rod bushes - mine does (well, did) make odd noises when changing direction, or making steering corrections while reversing into a driveway, you'd hear click or clunk as the weight shifted and let the bush move.

Mine did that since I owned it (under a year), and just the other day pulling out of a peaked driveway I heard POP from the passenger side then the car was driving odd/all wrong, got home (2kms) and checked underneath: passenger side sway bar link bush had perished to the point that the lower bush retainer on the strut (upper) side had worn away the rod until it could slip past, followed by the rubber (thats the pop I heard - rubber getting forced over something 3-4mm thinner than the ID of the rubber bush).

Passenger side link rod is bent, and the drivers side isnt much better. Both will be getting replaced on Thurs.

Kits range from $15 on ebay to around $30-35 per side locally. I reckon I'll go genuine rubber replacement kit for $31.75 per side, or Pedders beefed up version for $75 full set.

Thanks. I've already replaced the rear link pins and sway bar D bushes, rear shocks, lower control arm bushes and panhard bushes. The top control arms looked fine but i'll pull them out and have a good look.

Is it possibly the CV joint?

Mate of mine used to have a noise like that when he got his brake pads changed, but the pads the shop put on were the wrong ones, and slightly undersized so they moved about in the calliper and clunked under braking.

If you've done anything with your brakes recently it might be worth checking.
