A few weeks ago i screwed a bottom end bearing on the crankshaft of my VS V6 Ecotech Statesman, so i replaced the engine with a VT engine and have been driving it heaps.
Last night while driving the car i gave it about 70% throttle while moving and the engine cut out at 4000rpm, now when i start the car it shakes and sounds as if it is only running on 5 cylinders, i replaced the spark plugs and leads and it hasnt made a difference.. any thoughts?
Try checking for any error codes,Checking error codes VR/VS (Revised) Let us know what you find. Also it could be one of the igition coils have failed.Get hold of one from a running engine and try swapping it one at a time with the 3 on your car. See if it makes any difference. I was just re reading your post and the ignition coils shouldnt stop the engine unless the 3 go at once.(unlikely).Id be more inclined to check the CAS(Crank Angle Sensor). Its behind the Harmonic balancer, that has to be removed with a puller tool to get at the CAS.Its a very common thing to stuff up,and will just stop the engine dead ,But it will start again a minute later. They can cause all sorts of different problems though.Sometimes they dont throw an error code either. You might be able to get one from a wreckers, just to try it to see if that is the problem, then get a new one if it is.I have seen aftermarket ones stuff up from new.Try to go Genuine Holden when replacing it.If it turns out that its ok,then check the coils and the module underneath them(DFI module).
