Urgent help with my VS V6 engine

Hey just recently my engine started making a knocking noise it mostly happens when i accelerate but every now and then it does it when it is just sitting in drive. Someone has told me it could be the bearings in the back end or a piston. need help to find the problem thanks????

Sounds like a big end bearing gone/spun as you suggest - is the car high mileage?

How long has it been since its had an oil change and oil filter replaced?And what sort of oil was used?

sounds like wat has happened to mine bro... it started making this knocking noise while it was in idle and when i went to take of or rev the engine up it would get even louder and faster.. got told by 2 different mechanics that my engine has gone and would need a new one or a rebuil sorry to tell you man...

does it get louder and faster when you rev the car up? if so then yes.

im in the process of changing my engine over now and it proving to be a pain. im doing it myself though until my mate who knows a little about cars comes and helps out this weekend. .

or you could pay a wreckers or someone to install one for you i think its around 1500- 1800 fully installed with the second hand engine..

have you reved it hard lately? sounds like you have ****ed your engine. maybe snapped ya cam.

sound like a spun bearing knock to me. either rebuild or replace if that is the case

BUT these motors are getting cheap now days which is good

If it was a bearing ,the knocking would be constant.Does the engine just continuously knock,or does it come and go?

hey buddy what did it end up being? my car has started making a loud knocking sound anything over 2000-2500 rpm...it quite audible untill the sound of my exhaust muffles it. but im pretty sure it would continue right up to 5500. also audible at start up but i guess it must reach 2000 or so
it happens with the clutch it too and it started after a nice powerskid (private property ofcourse)
