my ride was going hard the all of a sudden it wouldnt.
it would idle fine but when you go to take off it would miss its ass off. so i changed the plugs and leads and still had the same prob. changed the coil packs and the piece under neith still the same. what am i leaving out.
could it be the cas (crank angle sensor) or has the hamonic balancer spun a but and throing the cas out????????????????
please some one help
Check for error codes first: Checking error codes VR/VS (Revised)
codes 12, 13, 49 what now
Code 13 is no signal from RH oxygen sensor.Code 49 is the cam angle sensor or crank angle sensor signal loss .Code 12 shows that that is no more error codes. It also means theres nothing wrong when it is displayed just by itself.Check the wiring going to the RH oxygen sensor, and the wiring going to the cam sensor and crank angle sensor at the front of the engine. If you find nothing wrong with the wiring. Then I would be replacing the sensors. You can clear the error codes by removing the battery terminal for 5 minutes. It might be worth clearing them, going for a drive ,and seeing if they come back.Just to make sure it wasnt a one off problem ,which can sometimes happen.
so i take it im up for a new cas but could the o2 sensor be contributing to it spluttering under load
You will be up for a CAS(crank angle sensor) or cam angle sensor, and an oxygen sensor.Thats if theres nothing wrong with the wiring.Id clear the codes first, then see if they come back after going for a drive. Then start replacing the sensors if the errors return.Let us know how you go.Cheers
checked the wires all good and wiped the codes and took it for a drive and checked the codes again
only comes up wit 12 but still splutters under load could this be a fuel related prob ie fuel pump or reg

Code 12 means everything is ok.How far did you drive it.Sometimes it takes a while for errors to log.I would be replacing the fuel filter.(A 5 minute job). And also check the Crank Angle Sensor. The harmonic balancer has to be removed to get to the CAS.You need a special puller tool to remove the harmonic balancer. The CAS can cause all sorts of problems, some similar to yours. The oxygen sensor is very unlikely to cause it to run rough and miss etc.It would effect fuel economy more than anything. So Id be looking at the other two sensors first. It would also be worthwhile getting the fuel system, pressure checked. It could be a faultyu fuel pump.

about 2-3 kms
about 2-3 kms
but the in line one or the one in the tank
thank for the advice btw
The inline filter,in front of the tank.I'm not sure if the error codes will come back or not.It might have been a one off thing, but if its running bad then I doubt it.Its most likely related.Check the error codes again after you have been for another drive. If its not the coils or DFI module underneath them,(you mentioned you tested them)then Id be looking at fuel.Pump pressure and blocked filter. If they prove satisfactory them maybe a faulty ECU or bad connection in the wiring at the ECU.A good workshop will be able to do the fuel pressure cheap. Its something you really cant do yourself without a fuel pressure test kit.

+1 on the fuel filter - often gets overlooked.
Or broken resistor on the plugs but as you've changed them that's prolly not it.
If you've changed everything else the fuel filter will be a cheap place to start.
replaced the filter so but while down there i noteced an exturnal pump out side of the tank so i may be in for the long hall thatks once again guys u have been a great help
CAS and fuel pressure.Did the new filter make any difference at all to it?You should check the wiring to the ECU as well to make sure its not just a bad connection somewhere.
yes and no mate but got it going to pro torque tomoz
Let us know what they find out.Cheers
after a whole day $200 out of pocket still the same prob but was going great for a but and now the same. think i may need new coilpack and dfi seww how that goes
Didnt you say you have tried another DFI module and coils already?
yer mate swapped them off a vp that i have in the yard but could it be the earth for them but when it warms up it splutters now but going dow to super shit to get new plugs and go get newcoil packs and dfi
hay guys after 3 sets of leads and pluggs and coil packs/dfi mods my super 6 is going great thanks for all your help
yeh my VS Berlina just started playing up... it has always taken longer than i expect to start like it kicks over for 3-4sec... now today (hot day) it started to idle rough and rev rough... i shorted pins 5-6 and got the error code "47" Crank Angle Reference Signal... now if it is the CAS is there some way i can test it... or it needs to be swapped to find out if that was it...
from what i can rember there is a whit plug that is found in the loom on the passanger side running beside the strutt ttower put a test light in it and earth it to the strutt topp and try start it if it is a faint light it may be on its way out i think not 100% on it tho
