hi there i am having alot of problems with my radiator. it keeps blowning the coolint and water back throu to the reserve and out and loose all its coolint and itz also not coolin down it sounds like its boiling all the time new water pump but in and the radiator is nearly 2 year old.......can anyone help need it back on the road asap.....
It might be the radiator cap seal is stuffed or a weak cap spring.Try a new cap.
Make sure your thermo fans are working properly. Does the temperature gauge show that you are overheating either when you are moving or stopped in traffic?
+1 for rad cap
westbad what is +1 for rad cap. and thanx black vxgts i will try that yeah it is over heating when i am stop and still now... it use to go down when i got cool aair in it when driving but when i switch the engine off it started to spill back out in2 and out of the reserve and had to fill it up after al the time
+1 for rad cap means i agree with brett... try replacing your radiator cap as it sounds the spring or seal has shit its self in yours.
oh cheers thanx mate...u know much bout them?? as mine has been giving me nitemare 4 the last year or so found out 6 months ago they put the thermo in the wrong way...and i thou that mite b buggered again to.....and the cap is a year and a half old...do they not last that long
A cap should last that long, maybe yours is just a faulty one.It would be worth trying a new one, just so you can rule it out and know that its not a dodgey cap causing the problem. And new ones are cheap to buy.You can test the thermo fan, just disconnect the temperature sensor wiring from the sensor near the thermostat housing(its the one with the plug, not the single wire sender near it)and start the engine. The fan should come on to slow speed after around 12 seconds, then after a further 6 seconds the fan should switch to high speed. If it does this its working ok.Also you might try replacing the thermostat.(again a cheap part to buy)They can cause problems when they get old.Especially if proper coolant hasnt been used in the radiator. If you are still having trouble after doing all this ,then I would be getting the cooling system pressure tested. You can get this done cheap at any decent workshop, this test will tell you if anything else is up with the cooling system.
thanx brett ur a champ...........
I bought a new cap from supercheap...... DIDN'T F'N WORK!!!!!!!!!!!! got a second hand one, works a gem. the s/cheap one built up pressure like yours! hence super CHEAP!!!!!!!!!!
