Hey all,
The old man has buggard his auto. He lives in a remote area so I have been hunting from brisbane for a replacement 2nd hand auto v8 box. As my dad is a tight arse, his local merchanic has talked him into trying to fit a v6 auto into the v8.
Surley this is not going to work?
Or am I wrong? I would of thought bell housing would be different, ratio would be different, and possibly the computer would play up, and input shaft would be different??
Any ideas before he runs off pays the merhcanic $500 for something that wont work!
by the way it is vs 95 sedan. x cop ss.
cheers
Im probly wrong so dont listen to me
Pretty sure the input shafts are different lengths. As for $500, I would be hitting the mechanic up for that if it didn't work.
The GM 4L60E Transmission -
This has all the info you'll need to give you a better idea...
Generally speaking and as this site suggests the 4L60-E transmsission is natively compatible with the V6, V8, and IL6 engines...
Due to it being electronically controlled by the PCM there shouldn't be to many issues...
Good luck mate.
