hi
weve spent about 5hrs trying to remove the auto box from the vs and have it nearly all the way out but cant remove the two cooler lineas on the top/side.
can anybody help??
we went and bought flare nut spanners and still cant get to them properly as it too tight down there, anyone got any ideas??
thanks
If you cant get at them you can cut the lines, but be sure to use a pipe cutter so you dont crush the ends and then when you put the new transmission back in rejoin then with some rubber hose and clamps.
thats the easiest way to do it, ive seen and done that many times and it works ok.
ok got thanks got it all out,.
now whats the easiest way to get the new box in and lined up with the splines on the shaft.
i dont know if its normal but the torque converter is welded and bolted to the flywheel so lining it up that way is hard
welded to the fly wheel...?!?! it shouldnt be. It should just be bolted to the flex plate by 3 bolts.
When you install the new gearbox the correct way to do it is to install the torque converter in the the box then fit both to the engine, not try and side the geatbox in to the torque converter whilst its still bolted to the motor.
try unbolting your torque converter off the flex plate and then slide it on to the gear box spline. Make sure it goes all the way back if you spin it and push as you put it on you should feel it go back 3 clicks then its in place.
yeah thats what i got told but its welded to nuts that can only be undone from the back side of the flywheel got me buggered
The nuts are on the back side of the flex plate (engine side) spin it round til ones at the bottom undo it then spin til the next one is at the bottom.
ok try that out thanks buddy
