Hi
Just recently my VR berlina has started to miss it seems fine at idle but when i give it med to heavy acceleration. Ive tested aldl codes as mentioned on another post im now getting codes 35, 36, 38 after having reset the ecu since it started to miss.
It seems to get worse as the engine warms.
Thanks
Code 35 could be a vacuum leak somewhere.Check all the vacuum hoses around the engine, brake booster and the vacuum reserve tank under the left front guard behind the bumper,it looks like a black ball thing.Check it for cracks or damage etc.It could also be a faulty IAC (idle air control)valve.About the miss, replace the plugs and leads ,also one of the three coils could be stuffed.Try borrowing one from a mate and try it in each of the 3 places where your coils go.Take it for a quick drive each time.See if it makes any difference. If your coils have the cylinder numbers stamped on them, they are original coils and are most likely worn out.New coils dont have the cylinder numbers stamped on them. Its best to replace all 3 at once if one is found to be faulty and they are the original ones.First up though, try replacing the plugs and leads, then test the coils if its no different.

I found code 36 is a vacuum leak but not mentioned in any commodore workshop manuals I looked at.And I couldnt find any code 38 at all.Dont know what the go is with that.If its definitely code 38 then maybe the ECU is stuffed.

i agree with brett jjj, i had the same problem in my vr, soon as you gave it a little bit it would miss and backfire real bad, went through a few air box's and filters too. i borrowed my mates 3 coil packs and fixed the problem straight away. also i noticed that if the cars on gas i had to make the gap of the spark plugs a little smaller or else it would backfire, miss too. hope this helps
I havent anyone to borrow coils from so what am i looking at price wise for a new ecu im guessing big bucks?, and how much for 3 coils approx?
You might try getting one from a wreckers,Id ask them if they can get you one from a running car so you know its ok.Tell them you need to know its ok because you are using it to troubleshoot your own coils.I havent bought any new coils for ages now so Im not sure of the price.Someone here will be able to tell you though.Try to get genuine Holden ones though.
