so i had a gbox put in by the wreckers 5wks ago vt box into a vs i made my first trip 2 sydney from the central coast last week and the gbox blew on the way home gr8 so theyve taken a week to replace under warranty[coz its a non paying job]. Well he calls yest and tells me the radiators blocked in the oil lines[th radiator i got from them less than 3mnths ago] and shouldnt have even replaced box, shouldnt have they flushed the lines before the box went in?? how does it just get blocked overnight i reckon they didnt do it anyway i said id replace radiator myself.Further inspection i found gravel in the bottom pipe im guessing from when theyve degreased and cleaned the box on the ground, how else would it get there?? So hows the best way for me to clean out the lines and should i do the pan and new filter as well as im guessing it will only happen again??![]()
I'd disconnect the cooling pipes at either end and flush them out, then I would flush out the pipe inside the radiator tank while it is disconnected. I'd then think about some kind of inline filter on the return from the radiator just for a while at least, I know there are ones for power steering so thay may do.
I'd then have the transmission serviced.
If you can't unblock the radiator will the wrecker replace it? As far as a wrecker doing work on my car I'd pass you don't know who's doing it and what they are qualified to do or how clean their work areas are.
are you from the central coast? which wrecker was it so i know to say away,if its not aloud to name names on here, pm me.
I'd probably drop the oil and filter just to be on the safe side incase there is any dirt in the bottom of the transmission.
Were you able to clean out the transmission lines and get it working properly? Which wrecker was this?
Remember you have statuatory warranty rights even on 2nd hand parts from a wrecker so you should check with consumer affairs but I'd suspect he will just say you got the dirt in there not him.
If you bought the parts from the guy and he fitted them you have a case. Get in touch with consumer affairs and make a formal complaint, you can tell the guy that you are going to do this so he has a chance to repair the damage. A radiator will not block up overnight, it must have been full of dryed up gunk and since you have been using it the gunk has freed up and blocked things up, didn't your car seem to run hot as this would show up. The truth is he is responsible for his service whether he likes it or not.
nah the car never got hot the radiators like new i think the prob started when they put the box in aftre cleaning it on the ground not blocking oil lines how else would blue metal get in there?? thats why i dont trust the new box so ive just dropped the oil, replaced filter im about to flush radiator but i think ill leave it for my mech 2 flush lines wish i hadve paid the extra $150 now for him to do it instead of the wanabes at the wreckers
are you able 2 flush lines with water then air or do you have to do it with oil coz i heard this was costly and im getting rid of the car soon
Gotta use Oil.
