Hey guys, I searched and read a few pages of results but didnt find an answer to my problem.
Lastnight i missed a turn (due to slow navigation of a mate) and braked hard to stop and reverse to go back to the street. Just after this, when i turned onto the new street and went to slow down for a crossing, my brakes were very stiff - i thought something had jammed. It hasnt gotten any worse or any better, still the same. It still brakes but it is just very stiff and you have to put alot fof effort into braking to stop in time.
Any ideas what the problem could be? Is it safe to drive or is it likely something else could **** up?
When the car isnt running, press tthe brake pedal, does it get harder to push or is it the same?
Sounds like you may have split the diaphragm in the booster. Or hopefully the vacuum hose has just come off.
Yeah mate when i press the brake pedal while the car is off its harder to press.
Not_An_Abba_Fan where abouts is the vacuum hose located? sorry i only just bought the car on tuesday so i dont know much about them yet.
thanks for the quick replies guys appreciate it![]()
The vacuum hose is attached to the booster behind the master cylinder. It will be a black hose that goes to the manifold, see if it is attached at both ends.
Also is there a hissing noise coming from the booster when the car is running?
Does each press get harder or does it stay the same the whole time?
I was thinking the same as Not_An_Abba_Fan about the brake booster.
It's located on the firewall on the drivers side.
Hey guys i just checked it out and you were right, one of the hoses had popped off the manifold.
cheers
Glad you got it sorted and it was an easy fix.
