Hi all,
I think it may be from all the rain up here in the far north in the past couple of days, but there's a problem with my door locks on my car... mainly drivers side.
Central locking all works, but won't pull the drivers side front or rear door locks down... also opening any of the door handles from the outside is very difficult (hard to pull the handles up)... and I need to basically slam the drivers door to get the latch to catch when it's closed.
Would a bit of crc or rp7 fix this up or should I go buy some spray on lithium grease?
As a quick fix I would saturate the latches with WD40 or similar - spray from above thru the window opening and thru any other orifices available. Otherwise you will need to pull the trims off which ain't nice in the Townsville heat/humidity where I spent 20 great years.
Hi Hako,
Yeah I did that when I got home this afternoon... and then TAC2'd the latches aswell coz everything looked really dry, any of the grease that was there definately isn't now. The drivers side door lock is still not locking via remote, but will unlock... if I lock it manually or deadlock it it's really stiff to turn. The door handles are also really tight on a the back passenger doors. I'll have to pull the trims off all the doors and see what's going on and give everything a good dose of TAC2... just can't do it now coz I have no garage and it's a bit wet up here thanks to good old Olga!
maybe look at the red parts on the locks, mine were sticking out just a little bit so the lock wouldnt go down.
checked the lock nibs already and it's not them causing the problem... I wish it was that easy! lol
Checked the locks this morning and the drivers door still wouldn't lock...
Drove to work... got out... pressed the button and it's all working normally again... looks like the lube must have loosened up what ever was sticky![]()
I spoke too soon... now passenger doors are locking, but the drivers side isn't. I think I'm going to have to pull the trims off and have a look at what's going on tomorrow.
One thing I noticed was there was a bit of vibration in the outside door handle when I had the stereo cranked up... so maybe that's got to do with the issue of the locks not doing what they're supposed to.
