g'day, i dunno that much bout cars, so i figured id ask, how does fiddling with the exhaust increase the power of the engine ? ta in advance
Increasing the size of the exhaust and removing impedances such as mufflers increases flow. So logically, more flow == more power. Some people say that you do need some back pressure, but that's debateable. That's not to say go out and stick a 5" fart cannon on either.![]()
just out of curiosity, what does the back pressure do ? and if that is true, then why dont all manufacturers put large exhausts as standard ?
because the vast majority of people dont want the amount of extra noise that comes with having a better performance exhaust. they want a quite car!
