The Genuine parts are made by companies contracted to GMH.

As for Universal - 4 wire is standard, just make sure they seller states it is for your model.

On another point, I went to buy a rubber stop hose from Repco and they, off the shelf, gave me a bagged and labeled Genuine Holden part. I think they are reselling original in some cases. Try a few other replacement parts for different prices on the same item, you may find then at half the price of RIPCO! $2 in phone calls is often a winning bet if you ask me.

Original VR is 22mm OE spanner or tube nut spanner. I just removed mine with a FBG shifter, the bigger the better if you can get it in there.

well everywhere else ive rang as said $100 or over per sensor so i think ill just grab these , not worried about a few dollars difference.
they just unscrew and unplug right? nothing else i need too know? they shouldnt be siezed or anything as they were changed over too my new extractors 6 months ago.

From memory, the "universal" sensors don't have the correct wiring harness, but come with generic connectors for each pin. For the VS I think Bosch are the genuine part manufacturer.

I bought some off the internet for around $55 dollars each (Delphi). The guy claimed they were genuine parts, but I think he was a bit misguided. Anyway they do the job for me and haven't stuffed up yet. They also came with anti-sieze compound on the thread.

cheers guys, will be doing mine tonight and hopefully getting better fuel consumption around town.
i think if they get me an extra 100k per tank they will pay for themselves in the next few months.

Make sure that yours are the 4-wire ones first. My VX V6 only uses the 2-wire ones.

The only thing is that I have been told you need to clean up the sensor's seat on the exhaust with a bit of wet/dry or the like. Don't know if this is bullshit or not, but can someone clarify?
    That which you resist persists.

the Bosch ones probably don't have the right connector so you will need to cut it off your old ones and join the wires. prices for genuine parts from a dealership can also vary a lot. I changed the sensor in a VN and the local delaer wanted $100 and I ended up getting an AC Delco one from another dealer, came with the right plug for $50. There easier to get out when the exhaust is a hot. When replacing just be careful not to overtighten them or crack the ceramic part. I used a ring spanner from memory.

there were o2 sensors with and without the plug attached, if they say they are universal im hoping the plug will fit... from a quick look under the bonnet it looks the same.

I recently installed Bosch oxygen sensors. They fit straight into the plugs.

all done, the left passenger side was finger tight... i literally turned it without needing a spanner which is a bit worrying.
going to go driving tommorow and see if i notice any better economy.
and yep the bosch do plug straight in.

Would be good to know how far the car now goes on 10 litres of 91 octane unleaded.

It's up to you. I think labeling it as crap is a bit extreme. I use it in my VY Ecotech and can't complain it runs just fine. These engines unless modified are designed for 91 Octane fuel and the 98 is a lot more expensive.
I tried Vortex 95 for about 4 to 6 tankfulls in my car and didn't notice a measurable difference in performance, it actually got better highway economy on a road trip last year using 91 against 95 and that's measured on the Hume Freeway between Sydney and Goulburn, down on 95 octane and back on 91 octane. Managed 7.5L/100km with the aircon on and using cruize control.
The more expensive stuff may over time result in less deposits in the engine but that can kept down my using a fuel system cleaner once in a while. When working out economy it's the cost per km not simply the amount of fuel so the econmoy on 98 octane would be a lot worse given it's price which is how much more than 91?

oh ok, I'd be interested to know what a delco wizzard tune is and what is changed on the engine. Have you increased the compression ratio?
