I drive an Auto vs v6 3.8L, I wanted to know what that noise is when you go from accelerating normally to accelerating hard. There is usually a bit of a lag then something "clunks" into place at the rear of the car and it feels like way more power is getting to the rear wheels. The reason i'm asking is that it has started to get a lot louder lately especially when the car is in ECO and i wanted to know if this was something to be worried about?
This might be a really stupid assumption but i thought the gearbox was up the front and the box at the rear was some sort of clutch to help transfer the power evenly to the rear wheels?
that box is the end of ur diff.
Hey mate i've got a V8 ute and i had the same thing, it sounds like the drive train wants to roar out of the car.
For me it was something like the bearings at the end of the driveshaft or something like that were buggered and i was told not to drive it hard incase it snapped or something like that, someone might have some more info
I'd be checking the upper and lower suspension arms which if worn allow the rear end to 'rotate' when you are pouring the power on especially from take-off. Insect them closely and maybe try and move them with a pry bar. This only applies to a solid rear.....IRS is different.
